Process
I studied Devanagri Type Design through hands-on exercises, creating logo vernacularization, bitmapping devanagri glyphs and researching contemporary works. Working through rigorous sketches, iterations and reviews, I deepened my knowledge and developed an anatomy system inspired by modernist latin fontmaking techniques and trends, characterized by tall font, disjoint intersection, open loops and monolinear stroke weight. This typeface extracts the modernist/industrial potential within devanagri script to arrive at a highly iterative and experimental practice into type.
Result
Loh Devanagri Display Typeface, though currently is going through another stage of iteration has received many appreciations and found place in moodboards of over 15 creatives on behance.
